InterVA is a suite of computer models to facilitate interpreting data from an individual verbal autopsy to derive likely cause(s) of death for each case, which can then be analysed over large numbers of deaths at the population level. InterVA-5 is designed to process verbal autopsy interview data (structured interviews according to WHO standards with witnesses to circumstances of individual deaths) and differs from Inrerva4 by adding Circumstances Of Mortality CATegories (COMCATs) to deaths investigated by verbal autopsy.Click here for More information on InterVA-5 model
The WHO verbal autopsy (VA) instrument is suitable for routine use. The instrument is designed for all age groups, including maternal and perinatal deaths, and also deaths caused by injuries. The 2016 WHO VA instrument is fully compatible with publicly available analytical software for assigning the cause of death (SmartVA, InterVA, InSilicoVA). A conversion algorithm transforms the output of the WHO VA 2016 questionnaire in files that can be processed by SmartVA, InterVA, an-overview-of-who-standard-verbal-autopsy-tools-and-proceduresd InSilicoVA.Click here for more information on WHO verbal autopsy (VA) instrument
In the VA eco system, there are a variety of tools that facilitate VA implementations. These tools include; WHO Questionnaires, CoD list & VA interpretation procedures. These tools have limited comparability between settings and over time, and therefore driving a need for having global standard tools.

VA has been used in various setups to support CRVS to generate mortality statistics, which has been useful to fill the gap for unaccounted deaths. This guide provides an overview of certification, coding and cause of death assignment so that people working on only one aspect of the verbal autopsy procedure
will be able to understand all the steps involved. Click here for more
